About
San Francisco Bay Area. Nineteen years at Apple. A camera in my bag most weekends.
Hi, I’m Abhay. I lead enterprise collaboration and digital workplace platforms at Apple — a role I’ve grown into over nineteen years, starting as a voice engineer in 2007 and progressing through manager and senior manager roles to my current scope across collaboration platforms, services, and global platform & software engineering.
Day to day, I’m responsible for the platforms 150,000+ Apple employees use to communicate and work together — UCaaS, unified communications, enterprise messaging, video and voice conferencing, broadcast streaming, and the rest of the digital workplace stack. The portfolio is north of $100M annually and the team is a hundred-plus engineers and managers spread across the regions Apple operates in.
The story I find myself telling most often is from 2020. When COVID shut the world down, we had to compress a three-year platform transformation into six months for a globally distributed workforce — with no downtime. That experience shaped how I think about Employee Experience as an infrastructure problem rather than a UX problem: the quality of the platforms shapes how teams adapt, innovate, and stay connected when conditions change underneath them.
Outside work, I’m usually behind a camera. The photography section here is a slow archive of places, people, and light I’ve found worth keeping. I also tinker with my home server, which is what hosts this site.
